Power Barrow Frequently Asked Questions

We have tried to design this website with every bit of information you might need to ensure you are able to make an informed choice when buying either a Rocky, Buddy or Brutus Power Barrow.

Below are the most common questions we have been asked about the Power Barrow range. If you still have a question or query, please use the form at the bottom of the page and we will be pleased to help you.

Why are your Power Barrows so much more affordable than competitor's machines?
We are the sole importer in the UK, with no distributors increasing the mark-up and alongside the manufacturers, we keep our profits to a minimum.

How does the quality of the Power Barrow rate against others?
We rate our quality much higher than other competitive machines. We all use the same engine (Honda™ GXV 160) and transmission (peerless) and usually the same cable and lever suppliers.

The area where we are much better positioned to exceed the competitor's quality is in the steel work. The metal fabricator does work for NASA, the US Military and is US Government Approved. They have beein in business for 55 years but best of all they are only a 45 minute drive from the US factory. When there are issues to be resolved or product enhancements to be discussed, it is much more effective and cost efficient for The Power Barrow Company to deal locally. Not having to deal with language issues and time differences is a major improvement in communications.

How easy is it to use the Power Barrow?
Anyone who can use a wheel barrow and start a lawn mower engine can use the Power Barrow.

How easy are Power Barrows to steer?
Due to the design and weight distribution, the Power Barrow is as easy to control and steer when fully loaded as when empty. Just apply side pressure to the handles and the transmissions split differential will cause the Power Barrow to change direction.

What are the Power Barrow skips made out of?
Power Barrow models come with a tough polypropylene skip and the Rocky Power Barrow also has the option of a 6 cubic ft / 170 litre steel skip. Polypropylene skip bases are lined, inside and out, with 11 gauge steel plates making them extremely strong.

Why would I choose the Brutus over the Buddy if they carry the same weight?
The Brutus skip might carry the same weight but for lighter material will carry more volume so you do not need to purchase extra accessories such as skip extensions.

How do I tip a loaded Power Barrow?
Release the skip lock lever on the right-hand grip and because the weight in the skip is forward loaded, the skip will normally self tip. When necessary a slight lift by hand on the rear of the skip will cause it to tip.

What gradient will a fully loaded Power Barrow climb?
When fully loaded, any of the Power Barrow models can climb angles up to 25°.

How simple is the Power Barrow to service and maintain?
The Power Barrow has been designed to be durable and easy to maintain and requires no special tools. The transmission is sealed for life and requires no servicing. The brake and belt can be adjusted without removing the covers. The engine air filter and spark plug are instantly accessible. It takes five minutes to change the drive belt. The wheels are easy to change. The body is protected with powdercoat paint and stainless steel fittings are used to avoid corrosion.

Are spare parts for the Power Barrow readily available?
All spare parts are kept in stock and Next Day UK Delivery is available for spare part on orders received before 12pm Monday to Friday.

How can the Power Barrow be transported?
Ramps can be used to load the Power Barrow in all situations. The 4WD traction allows the unit to be driven straight onto a trailer or van without the need for a ramp. The Power Barrow easily climbs stairs, drives over footings, building slabs and curbs.

What is the Power Barrow and engine warranty?
A full 12 months on the Power Barrow with 24 months on the Honda™ Engine. We would arrange for your nearest authorised Honda™ dealer to carry out any warranty work immediately.
